About Fireax Dobermanns He will sleep on the cold ground where the wintery winds blow... if only he may be near his masters side. George Graham Vest (1830-1904)
My love affair with animals began when I was very young. We emigrated here from Poland in the early 80's. We have always had animals especially dogs and my grandparents had farms and properties where I grew up. After growing up with many different breeds of dogs I met the Dobermann! One nice Sunday afternoon we were having a BBQ and out of no where a Dobermann female appeared there was a steak still left on the BBQ so she sat there patiently waiting for the BBQ to cool off then jumped up and took the steak jumped over the 4 foot fence as though it was not even there and took off.
My father rushed us all into the house and closed the door! LOL She came back the next day and the next and we became friends, eventually stayed we named her Tara. We became inseprable. We could never keep her in as our fences were too small so she came and went as she pleased until one day she never came back that was one of the saddest day for me as we did everything together. Not knowing what became of her was the worst! I spent many months looking for her! From that day on I decided when we move to a place with proper fencing I will harrass my parents and save my pocket money and get myself a Dobermann!
It took several years however just before my 16th birthday I was finally allowed to get a Dobermann and I purchased her with my own savings she was registered on the main register and I got a $50 discount because she had some white on the chest. Total cost $150! LOL I think you can see the spot in one of the photos!
We named her Skeeter or Rhinemist Cherished UD AD WT WAC. I attained many medals and awards and became an instructor at several clubs.
I bred her to the best dog I could find at the time I made my boyfriend drive 300kms each way. She had a litter of pups the night before my chemistry HSC exam. Needles to say I did not get a great result in the test! LOL
I kept the most amazing pup named her Fireax Vamp Glare CDX AD ET WAC or just Vamp. She was just incredible super smart I lost count on how many Gold Medals she won at the NSW state Obedience Titles however it was not just the medals ribbons and trophies which made her an amazing dog she was part human! Protective! We made movies together she would carry my shopping into the house. Climb ladders jump through fire hoops we did many demonstrations, there was nothing we could not do and we did it all!
Despite our rather small yard I acquired a third dog and it soon became apparent that I had to move out! I moved out of home as soon as I finished University and have had a yard full of Dobermanns ever since. Though I don’t train them to the levels I used to due to limited time work etc. I rely on the many people all over the country to enjoy them, train, show them. I try not to keep more dogs than I have time for and have many with people all over the country which I can use for breeding if I need to. This allows me to have access to a massive gene pool and many bloodlines. It allows me to only select the best of the breed if I breed.
I have imported several dogs over the years as I felt that this country needed an injection of new genes. I health test where I can it is a big concern that many people don’t and don’t care!
I believe that diet is of extreme importance! And not just any diet a Natural breed specific diet. The growth and proper development of a Dobermann is very much dependant on a proper diet and I don’t mean processed food that comes from a bagor tin! Long term health is also very much dependant on a good natural holistic diet.
Dobermanns come with varied temperaments! I focus on breeding dogs that best fit into a family environment. Being such a "full on breed" they have enough protective instinct without breeding for extreme drives. Too many so called breeders are using the “Working” bloodlines as a sales pitch. What people don’t realize is that less then one percent of those so called working Dobermanns ever get worked here in Australia. Where are you going to work this working line Dobermann? And they need to be worked or they will be very difficult to keep in a normal house yard!
Most buy up stock in Europe keep the dogs in small runs not in a home environment and bread them over and over selling their pups and living of the glory of some working dog in the pedigree.
All my dogs live in home environments with people I can see if they have the right temperament I can see what they need to balance it out and use a dog that can improve it.
Structure is also of upmost importance. There is a very good reason why you need a well put together dog and its not just because they “LOOK GOOD” Correct structure puts much less stress on the joints ligaments and spine. Good structure allows for very efficient movement allowing the dog to cover a lot of ground with little effort. Endurance is very important in this breed as a well put together dog will go all day without tiring.
I have devoted pretty much my life up to now to this breed more then 20 years now. They are not for the fait hearted or the people who want an easy going laid back dog. You need lots of room or you need to exercise this breed a lot! for a happy dog. Like all dogs they settle with age. They were bred to be close human companions and protectors they thrive on human companionship.
This breed is so versatile they can do just about anything with training. One of the top 5 most intelligent dogs in the world!
I have lost count of how many Australian Champions I have bred however I believe its in the 30’s now! Not to mention the many obedience and other titled dogs.
My aim is to recognize them, their owners and their achievements.
Most of my dogs are attained as family companions and their owners for one reason or another decide to do more. Many many are handled by novices to their championships and obedience titles, showing trailing are not easy! Though it may look easy! All I can say well done to you all! Without you it would be so difficult to show the world the potential this breed has!
I am located about an hour south of Sydney NSW. However I frequently send my dogs all over the country and also to other parts of the world. I pride myself on selecting the best fit pup/dog for individual family and environmental needs. If you are thinking about getting a Dobermann please fill in my enquiry page I will be very honest and straight forward as that is my nature I tell it how it is! J
